Northern Abstract Aussies & Mini Americans
Quality bred CKC/AKC australian shepherds, ASDR registered Australian shepherds and CKC/AKC mini american shepherds.
How it Started
It all started with an energetic, fun-loving aussie. I fell in love with the breed over 10 years ago when I purchased my first aussie, Remy. Since then I knew I would never have just one aussie again. Remy wasn't a huge part of our program, and since retired. We've been slowly growing and changing our program, by carefully choosing breeders to purchase future prospects from. It was a long process of raising and evalutating potential prospects, learning the "To Do's" of breeding and health testing our breeding dogs before pulling the trigger on our first litter.
About Us
We are a small, home breeding program located in Camrose, Alberta. Our dogs are our pets first, and are not outside or kennel dogs.
At Northern Abstract we have CKC/AKC Australian Shepherds, ASDR registred mini and toy Australian Shepherds, and AKC Mini American Shepherds. At this time my breeding focus is on quality Mini American Shepherds, and my small mini/toy ASDR lines. All of our dogs have been tested through Pawprint or Embark for the full genetic panel, or proven through parentage, as well tested for NAD. Certified OFA's done at 2 years of age to rule out hip or elbow dysplasia. We are currently in the process of doing certified eye exams.
We are very excited to start our journey with showing our miniature americans here in Canada.

Our Puppies
How are our puppies raised? All of our puppies are raised in the home. We believe that allowing puppies to constantly be exposed to the hustle and bustle of a busy household setting, sets them up to confidently transition to their new home after 8 weeks old. They begin litter box training with wood pellets at the age of 3 weeks old, and then transition to start pottying outside around 6-7 weeks depending on our Alberta weather. Puppies begin their kennel training as early as 2-3 weeks when an open door kennel is added to their pen. We then begin kenneling for short time frames, and car rides as early as 4-6 weeks old, especially when preparing our puppies for travel to their new homes, via air or ground shipping. Our puppies are WELL socialized with children during their stay here, as well as other dogs.
What do our puppies come with?
-First set of vaccinations at 7/8 weeks of age
-Microchips
-Three sets of deworming done at 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age
-Assessment from a certified vet prior to leaving
-Health guarantee against any genetic concerns up to 2 years of age
-Registration papers if wanting to regisiter
-List of medications to avoid giving your puppy/dog

Tail Docking
We understand there is a lot of opinions on tail docking in Alberta, and some people prefer one look over the other. We strive to uphold the breed standard of this amazing breed, while aiming to offer our clients what they are looking for in an aussie or miniature american. If you are wanting a puppy with a tail, please specify in the requirements when filling out the questionaire. We will do our best to fulfill this requirement , but will depend on where you are on the waitlist, and what other people on our deposit list aree wanting. With leaving a tail on a puppy, we require an additional non-refundable deposit to be put on your puppy at birth, which goes toward final price.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT I CANNOT ALWAYS ALLOW TAILS TO BE LEFT ON. I will do my absolute best to try and work with you. :)
Waitlist Informtaion & Picking up your puppy
In order to choose an available puppy, or be added to our waitlist, we require you to fill out a questionaire. This is to ensure that all our puppies go to good homes. Following filling out the questionaire and being approved, we require a non-refundable deposit of $400 to hold said puppy, or your spot on our waitlist. Deposits are applied to to the final price of the puppy. If we are unable to provide you a puppy that matches your requirements outlined in your questionaire in a years time, we will offer you your deposit back. We ask that deposits be used in 2 years time.
Puppy picks are done in order of deposit recieved at 4-5 weeks of age. This is to allow us to evaluate our puppies, and ensure they are going to best home to fit their lifestyle needs. I know many clients are usually wanting specific colours or sizes, but I need to do whats best for my puppies, and puppy families, and match them with a home best suitable for their needs. There are some special circumstances that I will allow picks before the age of 4-5 weeks.
I also have a contact list, if you are interested in one of our puppies, but not ready to commit to a deposit. Our contact list will be offered any available puppies after deposit picks, before I list as available to the public.
Puppies are ready for their new homes at 8 weeks of age, and no sooner. We will allow your puppy to stay with us, at no charge for up to 10 weeks. After 10 weeks. we do charge a daily rate of $10/day, as it costs money to feed and care for the puppy, as well as extra time put into training.
We do offer shipping at an additional cost. Please contact me for price, as it varies depending on location. I will personally set up shipping across Canada, but if wanting to ship internationally, it is the buyers responsibility to set up.
